Eczema is also known as Seborroeic Dermatitis. This form of eczema affects the scalp,
although symptoms may occur on the eyebrows, edges of the eyelid, in the crevices of
the nose, and the skin folds of the armpits and groin. Symptoms include:

- Inflammation
- Itchiness
This form of eczema is believed to be associated with the rapid overproduction of a form of
yeast found in normal skin called Pityrosporium ovale. Those with this form of eczema seem
to have a reduced resistance to this yeast due to the influence of various factors,
including exposure to environmental elements that cause oxidation.

Wendy’s three-year-old daughter, Victoria, was diagnosed with severe eczema when she was just one year old. “She was just a mess. Her skin was so red and dry that she would scratch it with her fingernails to the point it would bleed. I had to keep her nails really short to make sure she didn’t scratch,” said Wendy.
Her daughter’s physician wrote a prescription for hydrocortisone. When that didn’t work, the next prescription would be for a stronger steroid cream.
